What type of Camera do you use?
This is probably the most frequent
question I get asked. When we got started a number of years back, I made the decision to jump on
board with Canon products. The decision back
then was totally based on ergonomics and had little to do
with picture quality. The first purchase of a Canon 30D body was made simply because it fit best in my
hand. The theory back then was that "If it fits well... I'll use it".
I'd still offer that advice today. If I was to do it all
over again (because once you invest, you're 'bound'), I'd probably pick a Nikon body because I really like
the sound of the shutter when I hear it used on CSI (the TV show).
Seriously... the type of body
doesn't really matter as much as the type of glass that is attached... along with all the other skills that evolve
over time.
Where do you find Wildlife to
photograph?
The quick answer would be 'Wherever we are". It seems that wildlife show up almost anywhere
and often quite unexpectedly. If I have to admit it, I've jumped in the car on occassion and driven hours
based on a televised sighting that was probably days or months
old.
Our motto is quite easy to remember... "We'll never see wildlife If we're not in the wild".
I've never taken a photograph of a Great Gray Owl while sitting comfortably in my armchair watching TV.
Backyards, Parks, Evening Drives and Destination Trips are all great places to
start.
